What’s going on with the great console shortage? Well, in a nutshell, there aren’t enough enough of those precious custom AMD chips that both the Series X|S and PS5 use, there’s a shortage of semiconductors, news of the shortage and Microsoft and Sony’s far reaching Marketing have pushed demand through the roof, and the general desire for more engaging entertainment are the main reasons for it. Oh yeah, and of course, the #1 explainer for almost every abnormality that’s going on in the business world: the Covid-19 pandemic.

We’re going to talk about how production bottlenecks, tough restrictions from the U.S. government on China, and a chip manufacturing slowdown is getting in the way of you balling out of control on NBA 2K21 on your favourite 9th generation console. Oh yes - you can’t leave politics out of this! We’ll quickly talk about how the pandemic forced the major console makers and retailers to move to an online distribution model quite quickly that scalpers and bot services were able to figure out but left the rest of us out in the dust. And we’ll talk about ourselves - what we, the gamers, want, and how that has affected the shortage. Hah - you thought you weren't a part of the problem, huh? You’re not getting away that easy!
