Plenty of affordable component and kit cars were born in the early 2000's. Some of these have grown into successful businesses which still operate today; others have faded away with time. Steve Graber built a MR2-based mid-engined exotic roadster in his home garage in the Fall of 2000, and began marketing it to the world shortly after. With a sporty 4 cylinder motor, lightweight two-seater design, and unique exotic body style, it seemed sure to be a hit among the affordable supercar community. Sadly, after nearly 2 decades of production, the project fizzled out and left us wondering what could have been. Although the Graber La Bala (also know as the Graber LB1 kit) never 'made it big', the affordable exotic alternative still has a fascinating story as one of the coolest cheap MR2 kit cars ever made.
